VocabLens — Privacy Policy

VocabLens is a Chrome extension that helps students learn exam-level vocabulary while reading. We collect as little as possible, and we never sell data.

What stays on your device

Your saved words (notebook), flashcard progress, theme and settings are stored locally in your browser (Chrome storage). They are not uploaded to us.

What is sent to our servers

• Word lookups (Pro): when you open a word with Pro active, the word and the sentence it appeared in are sent to our server (api.vocablens.in) to generate the AI explanation and picture. Page content is never scanned or uploaded in the background — only the word you clicked.
• Dictionary lookups (free): the looked-up word is sent to public dictionary APIs (dictionaryapi.dev, datamuse.com).
• Activation: a random device identifier (not your name or email) and your unlock code or payment reference, used only to activate and re-activate Pro on your device.

What we do NOT collect

No browsing history, no page contents, no names, no contact lists, no ad tracking, no analytics profiles. We do not sell or share data with third parties for advertising.

Payments

Payments are processed by Razorpay/UPI. We never see or store your card, UPI PIN, or bank credentials — we only receive a payment confirmation.

Data removal

Uninstalling the extension removes all local data. To remove server-side activation records, email us.
